TY - CHAP M1 - Book, Section TI - Head and Neck Masses A1 - Rosenberg, Tara L. A1 - Tunkel, David A1 - Chelius, Daniel C. A2 - Kline, Mark W. PY - 2018 T2 - Rudolph's Pediatrics, 23e AB - The differential diagnosis for head and neck masses in children is very broad. Thus, this common clinical finding can be a difficult diagnosis to determine. Thorough history and physical examination are extremely important for identifying the underlying etiology of the mass, and they help guide further evaluation and therapy. Most head and neck masses in children have an infectious/inflammatory cause. However, congenital neck masses and neoplasms occur, many of which require surgical excision or biopsy for diagnosis and treatment.
