AB The  spectrum  of  anorectal  malformations  (ARMs)  ranges  from  anal  stenosis  to  persistent  cloaca.  The  term  imperforate  anus  applies  to  the  vast  majority  of  these  malformations,  whereby  the  anal  canal  is  malformed  and  there  is  no  visible  normal  anal  opening  onto  the  perineum.
