Over the past day the lesions had spread to his face and around his eye (Figure 39-1). His mother has noted that the lesions have evolved from flat to raised lesions to fluid-filled ulcers. The boy has been irritable, and over the past day, has refused to eat and drink. He appears dehydrated and is admitted to the hospital for intravenous fluid hydration.
