Premature destruction of erythroblasts in the bone marrow reduces their numbers reaching maturity. In addition, there is peripheral destruction of these dysplastic erythroblasts. Three main types of congenital dyserythropoietic anemia (CDA I-III) and four other extremely rare types have been described.
