AB Congenital  enzyme  defects  resulting  in  chronic  diarrhea  and  failure  to  thrive.  Affected  infants  develop  symptoms  soon  after  ingesting  sucrose,  either  from  modified  milk  formulas,  fruits,  or  starches.  The  clinical  presentation  consists  of  explosive,  watery  diarrhea,  dehydration,  abdominal  distension,  and  pain.
