AB The  serum  potassium  level  is  7.0  mEq/L  in  an  extremely  low  birthweight  (ELBW)  infant.  Normal  potassium  levels  are  generally  between  3.5  and  5.5  mEq/L,  with  a  potassium  >5.5  mEq/L  indicating  hyperkalemia.
